Fire damper servicing covers regular inspections and functional tests of the dampers in the ventilation system, inspections of smoke dampers and smoke extraction fans, and help with maintenance records. It is intended for building owners and facility managers, who must look after this equipment in line with the manufacturer’s instructions. We work across Slovenia.

What fire damper servicing includes

  • Regular fire damper inspections
  • Functional tests of electrically actuated dampers
  • Smoke damper inspections
  • Smoke extraction fan inspections
  • Help with keeping maintenance records

What the law requires

Fire dampers are part of an installed active fire protection system. In Slovenia these systems are governed by the Rules on the supervision of installed active fire protection systems (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 53/19):

  • Technical supervision: throughout the use of the building, the owner or user must ensure technical supervision of the system, which covers checks, servicing and maintenance in line with the manufacturer’s instructions (Articles 3 and 4). This is the work we carry out.
  • Testing and certificate: the system is tested by an authorised testing body, which issues a certificate of proper functioning. The certificate is valid for three years. Ventus does not issue this certificate.

Frequently asked questions

How often do fire dampers need to be inspected?

We recommend an inspection once a year. If your dampers close electrically via a push button or a switch in the control panel, a functional test is recommended four times a year.

Do you issue the certificate of proper functioning for the active fire protection system?

No. The certificate of proper functioning is issued by an authorised testing body. We carry out regular inspections, functional tests and maintenance of the dampers and help with the maintenance records.

Why is it important to keep records?

As well as the maintenance itself, it is important to keep records of the regular damper maintenance.
