Visitor statistics

Current choice: you have not chosen yet (visitor statistics are off).

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Under Article 225 of the Slovenian Electronic Communications Act (ZEKom-2), cookies and similar technologies that store information on your device or read it from your device (for example the browser’s local storage) require your prior consent, unless they are strictly necessary for a service you have explicitly requested. Compliance is supervised by the Information Commissioner.

What ventus.si uses

Our website itself sets no cookies. The only thing it writes to your browser’s local storage is your choice about visitor statistics. We checked this in a browser on every page.

  • Visitor statistics only with your consent: we count visits with GoatCounter, which uses no cookies, and only if you allow it (see below). We do not use tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Fonts and images are stored on our own website, so they are not loaded from external servers (such as Google Fonts).
  • Hosting: the website is hosted by GitHub (GitHub Pages), which sets no cookies when delivering the pages.

On your first visit, after a few seconds or once you start scrolling, a slim bar at the bottom of the page asks whether you allow us to count visits. The “Sure” and “No, thanks” buttons are equivalent. Until you choose “Sure”, the counting script is not loaded and nothing about your visit is sent anywhere; if you choose nothing, visits are not counted.

If you allow it, each time you view a page your browser sends GoatCounter (ventus.goatcounter.com) the address and title of the page, the address of the page you came from and your screen width; in doing so, GoatCounter also receives your IP address and browser details. GoatCounter sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It keeps the IP address and browser details only in memory, for up to 8 hours, so that the same visit is not counted more than once; its database stores only totals (for example how many visits a page had, from which country and with which type of browser), from which you cannot be identified. The servers are in the EU (Finland and Germany). The statistics are not strictly necessary for the website to work, so under Article 225 ZEKom-2 we need your consent.

More on how GoatCounter processes data is in our privacy policy and in GoatCounter’s privacy policy.

How to change or withdraw your choice

Click “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page (or the button at the top of this page) and choose “Sure” or “No, thanks”. The change applies immediately: after you withdraw consent, your page views are no longer counted. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of counting before it. If you clear your browser’s local storage, we will ask you again on your next visit.

Protecting the contact form (strictly necessary)

The contact form on the Contact page is protected against bots with Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile is loaded only when you click into the form. It then writes one item to your browser’s local storage:

Name Provider Purpose Type and duration
cf.turnstile.u Cloudflare (challenges.cloudflare.com) checking that the form is sent by a person browser local storage; kept until you delete it

During the check, Turnstile also reads technical properties of your browser. It sets no cookies. This storage is strictly necessary to send the message you want to send securely, so under Article 225(2) ZEKom-2 no consent is required. If you do not use the form, Turnstile is not loaded. How Cloudflare processes data is described in our privacy policy and in Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum.

How to delete cookies and local storage

You can delete or block cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings (usually under Privacy or Security, Cookies and site data). Instructions are available in the help pages of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. If you block local storage, the form protection may not work; in that case please write to info@ventus.si.

Changes

If we introduce other tools in the future that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.

For more on how we process personal data, see our privacy policy.
